Qualities and Strategies of Peacemakers

An introduction to peacemaking in five films.

Qualities and Strategies of Peacemakers’ (QSP) is a short online course in 5 x 2-hour modules, each based on a documentary film about outstanding peacemakers.

Each module starts with a brief introduction on Zoom to set the context of the film, which is followed by a viewing of the film on YouTube. Participants then come back together (on Zoom) to take part in a facilitated group analysis of the peacemakers’ ‘strategies’ (what they do or say, and why they might have done or said it), and the ‘qualities’ we observe in them.

The films illustrate repairing relationships in inter-national, inter-religious, inter-ethnic and post-colonial contexts, and were made for Initiatives of Change (IofC), an international trust-building movement.

Participants who complete the whole course receive a Certificate of Completion. The course is free, but donations to Initiatives of Change UK are warmly welcomed.

The course will take place from

17 to 21 June from 17:00 to 19:00 BST

‘I believe these films form an integrated series, like a string of pearls, collectively embodying the qualities of a peacemaker and illustrating how the reconciliation process unfolds in conflict and post-conflict communities.’
