Developing Smart Cities for a Sustainable Future

Over 9 billion people will live in cities in 2100. John Mavrak works on creating smart cities in order to leave no one and no place behind.

John Mavrak

John Mavrak is a senior businessman with a long experience in the hospitality business. He is the founder and chairman of PEACE CITY . WORLD, which defines itself as a Smart Sustainable City Master Developer. Their corporate tagline is "Profit From Doing Good".

In other words, PEACE CITY . WORLD are focused to create new smart city economic developments, by inviting the world to participate. Part of their strategy is to initiate development through private citizen investment via block chain, supporting global and national banking, funds, and corporations – people and individuals can make a difference and an individual profit return for doing good.

The organisation’s vision is to plan and develop 10 to 20 new peace cities across the 5 continents over the coming 10 years. Linking these new global city hubs together will also help make our world better interconnected. Through creating new human habitats supporting millions of people, with jobs creation, developing the economy of countries in an ecological manner, PEACE CITY . WORLD’s strategy is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and with the general purpose of the United Nations in uniting humanity for the betterment of life on our planet.

PEACE CITY . WORLD believes in the values of UN-Habitat which promotes transformative change in cities and human settlements through knowledge, policy advice, technical assistance and collaborative action to leave no one and no place behind.

John Mavrak will talk to us and dialogue with participants, about the source of his inspiration and the way his vision has unfolded so far, as well as on the new developments ahead. It will be an occasion to reflect on how life will be for this generation and the next ones in a planet occupied by 11-12 billion people, of which 70-80% will live in cities, most of which are not yet built. However, once a city is built, its physical form and land use patterns can be locked in for generations…

Join us on 3 May at 12:00 GMT for this Initiatives of Change Business & Economy dialogue on the meaning of sustainability.
