Jiali Primary School Anti-Drug Education
On the morning of 24 September, members of IofC Taiwan from the Little Tree Project came to Jiali Primary School to conduct a learning session on "anti-drug" attended by 210 fourth-grade students.
This was a dialogue that combined the concept of #SEL, starting with discussing the social problems caused by methamphetamine addiction. This was not a promotional session to inform children about the types of drugs and tell them "no", but rather to help them understand: where drugs might appear? What are the consequences of using drugs?
How to deal with situations where temptation or discomfort arises?
The most important thing is to help children think about the temptations and situations they may encounter in their daily lives, practice improving their vigilance, make judgments, and learn to bravely say "no" when faced with unreasonable demands.
The session also reminded children to recognize their emotions and needs (self-observation); manage their emotions well, understand how to regulate stress (self-management); observe their surroundings at all times, understand the situations of others (social observation); know how to refuse, seek help when necessary (interpersonal relationships); make informed judgments, stay away from risks (responsible decision-making).
Finally, Teacher Ou Fang taught the children a catchphrase: "STOP": Stop, Think, Observe, Pick.
"I hope the children can be their own masters when facing temptations and challenges, and make the right choices!"
đź’š The Tree Project helps children understand more, think more, and gain more strength to face life.
